In order to shorten the expenditure in terms of time and work - since it is no longer necessary to fit chains and other objects around the tyres - the rim-mounted snow clamp has the following technical features. The car-tyre safety device for snowy weather is installed in the rim. With a small number of rotations of a crank, the steel clamps are pushed out of the rims, constructed for this purpose, over the tyres via a thread and are pressed tight there. In principle, the same process is the automatic operation of the rim-mounted snow clamp by means of oil or air pressure. Here, the steel clamps are pressed out of the rim sheaths via small pressure and compression cylinders using the engine power of the car; the power transmission occurs via pressure lines to be installed and the device is controlled from the inside of the car. The rim-mounted snow clamp eliminates the need to carry the customary winter equipment for car tyres separately and dispenses with fitting it which is time-consuming and laborious.
