Insulating rod for a composite profile, in particular for windows, doors and facades

A heat-insulated composite profile consisting of the metal profiles 1, 2 and one or more insulating rods 3 is in general manufactured in lengths of 6 metres and must then be cut to the working length. In order that the wear of the saws can be kept low during cutting, the insulating rods 3 are made from a polyester resin which is reinforced and cured with natural fibres, natural fibre chips or with flat-shaped textile articles made from natural fibres. Sisal fibres or jute fibres can be used as natural fibres. The flat-shaped textile articles can be designed as woven or knitted strips. This structure of the insulating rod produces a dimensionally stable insulating rod even under increased thermal load which can occur during the surface treatment of the metal profiles 1 and 2. To connect the metal profiles 1 and 2 to the insulating rods 3, the insulating rods are equipped with continuous recesses 4 into which bead edges 5 of the groove webs 6 are formed. This forming-in takes place by means of a pin which is moved through the inner chamber 8 of the composite profile (Fig. 1, 2). <IMAGE>
