Flexible transfer line having a main conveyor 10 serving a plurality of work or storage stations 12a-12n arranged in parallel. A central computer system 13 continuously knows the set of parts 18 present on the line, their state of progress and their exact position, in order to determine the operating orders to the line without it being necessary for the parts or for their support to transport a physical identification device.
