A twin-wire papermaking machine forms a zone around an imperforate roll and an arcuate roof partially surrounds the roll. Pressurized air is injected along the roof. Water expelled from the wires is collected at the end of the arcuate roof. Redeposition of the water from the roof onto the wire is prevented, so as to avoid forming imperfections on the paper.
