Dihydroxybenzamide derivatives, having anti-inflammatory activity and therefore useful in medecine, are represented by the formula (I):

wherein R<1> represents hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R<2> represents straight chain-alkyl of 4 to 12 carbon atoms, branched chain-alkyl of 4 to 12 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl or 4 to 12 carbon atoms,
<CHEM>
wherein n is an integer of 1 to 6, or substituted or unsubstituted pyridyl, or R<1> and R<2> together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached represent a group of the formula -@@@-Y wherein X represents nitrogen or methine and Y represents hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl.
