Method for transmitting colour television signals of high-resolution colour television images

During the transmission of a high-definition colour television image via satellites, two channels will have to be used. To be able to use conventional CVBS receivers, it is proposed to transmit a conventional CVBS signal in one of the two channels. Since in accordance with the current internationally accepted state of knowledge, it is allowed to reduce the vertical resolution for the colour, only a high-resolution luminance signal is transmitted in the second channel. In the high-definition receiver, the lines take the information missing in each case from the neighbouring lines. A frame memory is not mandatorily necessary. To lengthen the image format in the receiver with the high definition, it is proposed to change the ratio between horizontal blanking time and active image transmission time in the dual system.
