In a manual brake and accelerator control, intended for use in a motor vehicle with automatic gears available as special equipment and in which a swivellably mounted brake lever arranged on a bracket beneath the steering column can be swivelled in a plane inclined parallel to the steering column and bears a handle for actuating the accelerator, a handle element (19) for actuating the accelerator pedal (G) via a swivel connection (18) is coupled to the brake lever (22) and an axially displaceable locking rod (26) is arranged within the brake lever (22) constructed as a tube, which rod secures the brake lever (22) by insertion in a catch arrangement (29) when the brake lever (22) is pulled-up in the brake position.
