A system upgrade method and a terminal. The method comprises: reading a target storage partition of an upgrade package, the target storage partition being a non-cache partition (101); detecting whether the storage capacity of the upgrade package is smaller than the target storage partition, so as to obtain a judgment result (102); downloading and storing, when the judgment result is that the storage capacity of the upgrade package is smaller than the target storage partition, the upgrade package to the target storage partition (103); and rebooting, when it is detected that downloading and storage of the upgrade package are ended, a system, entering a first mode, and extracting the upgrade package from the target storage partition so as to upgrade the system (104). |
