Stress and diarrhoea sequelae in monogastric animals and ruminants can be prevented or treated by mixing the animal feed with an effective amount of a additive based on a Plantago species, preferably Ispaghula Husk, in the form of seed hull, ground seeds or extract of seeds. The remedy is administered in an amount of about 0.3 weight percent, when used as a preventive, and in an amount of about 0.5 g per kg of body weight, when the diarrhoea and/or stress state is observed. The remedy further has growth-promoting activity. |
