PURPOSE:To provide the heat exchanger, suitable for effectively collecting, accumulating and utilizing heat from a heat source, in which the temperature thereof is fluctuated, by a method wherein the operating fluid evaporating section of first member is located at the lowest position to insert it into heat source side heat medium path and the outer wall of connecting section is contacted with a heat accumulating agent while the operating fluid condensing section of second member is inserted into the load side heat medium path. CONSTITUTION:The heat exchanger 20 is constituted of a chamber 21, located at the lowest position and the heat source side heat medium is flowed therethrough, the chamber 22, located at the uppermost position and the load side heat medium is flowed therethrough, and a heat accumulating tank 23, pinched between both chambers. The surrounding wall of the heat accumulating tank 23 is constituted of a heat insulating material and the heat accumulating agent 24 is accommodated in the tank 23. When the part I of the heat pipe 25 is located at the lowest position, the surrounding of the part II is covered by the heat accumulating agent 24 and heat medium, heated by solar heat or the like, is flowed around the part I, a part of the heat is taken out of the part III directly and the balance of the heat is accumulated in the heat accumulating agent around the part II. On the other hand, in case the accumulated heat is to be utilized, it can be taken out of the part III.
