<p>Materials for the thermal insulation of building structures. Each consists of a plurality of webs (4, 5, 6) of a flexible sheet material, and a pair of side members (1, 2), to the central portions of which the edge regions of the webs are secured, with the faces of the webs in spaced-apart relationship. The side members (1, 2) have border parts (8) which project beyond the central portions and are foldably linked to the central portions. The webs (4, 5, 6) and the side members (1, 2) may be arranged in a substantially flat state with at least one of the webs (4, 5, 6) pleated, and may be opened up to cause the webs to adopt their spaced-apart relationship. The border parts (8) of the side members (1, 2) may be folded away from the webs and secured, e.g. to joists, to secure the material in an operative position with the spaced-apart webs (4, 5, 6) acting as a heat-insulating barrier. The materials are of value in suspended ceiling constructions.</p> |
