Castor, in particular for movable hospital beds, with a device for immobilising the swivelling and rotational movement of the wheel. The device has an immobilising bolt which is guided in an axially displaceable and non-rotatable manner in the fastening peg connected to the swivel bearing and on the lower end of which there is provided a disc wheel which is toothed on the underside and can be brought into engagement with a brake rocker arrangement which is mounted pivotably in the wheel fork hollow, can press against the wheel and is provided with a toothed segment. The immobilising bolt is supported resiliently on the fastening peg via an energy store which engages with the immobilising bolt for the purpose of releasing it. The immobilising bolt can be adjusted in terms of height counter to the effect of the energy store by means of a cam disc which acts on its actuating head and is mounted such that it can rotate to a limited extent in a housing sleeve connected to the fastening peg. In its position in which it has been lowered in a positive manner by the cam disc, the immobilising bolt blocks the rotational and swivelling movement of the wheel, and in its position in which it has been raised upwards in a non-positive manner, the bolt holds the wheel in the straight-ahead position in that projections, which are provided on the top side of the disc wheel of the immobilising bolt, engage in recesses in a holding plate which is fixedly connected to the wheel fork, the projections which are provided on the top side of the disc wheel of the immobilising bolt... as latching projections and the recesses of the holding plate connected to the wheel fork ...
