<p>High-strength ceramics containing α-sialon substantially comprising an α-sialon composition represented by the formula: Yx(Si, Al)12(O, N)16, where 0<x<=0.8 and at least one member selected from among oxides, nitrides, carbides, and borides of metals insoluble in the α-sialon composition, with the content of the α-sialon phase being 10 to 95 wt.%, are excellent in physical properties such as bending strength, fracture toughness, hardness, etc., thus being useful as mechanical structure parts in the engineering field.</p> |
