In a striping device in a double- cylinder circular knitting machine where the thread guides (1) and the cutting devices are controlled by a system of control cams (5,6) driven by pawls (10) of a programme controlled racking device, the pawls (10) being located on a racking lever (11) and being selectively rendered inactive by respective blocking levers (13) and the racking lever (11) being held inactive by a securing lever (15) until the latter is released by the blocking levers (13), the blocking levers (13) are directly actuated by respective electromagnets (17) connected to the control microcomputer of the machine. Electromagnets (17) of neighbouring blocking levers (13) are mutually angularly offset and engage respective teeth (131, 132, 133) on the levers. <IMAGE>
