Organic reactions are carried out by dissolving, suspending or emulsifying the reactants in a liq. silicone oil, carrying out the conversion, and sepg. the prods. The silicone is liq. at between room temp. and 200 deg.C (pref. up to 100 deg.C), with viscosity 40-20,000 (50,2000) ctks at 25 deg.C. It is partic. an oligomer or polymer with units of formula -(Si(X2)-O)-, where X is alkyl (pref. 1-4C esp. CH3) or phenyl. A silicic acid ester substd. by silyl gps. may be used. Sepn. of the prods. is esp. with a solvent insol. in the silicone oil. Claimed reactants are amines, partic, with alkoxy cpds. or alkyl cpds.; alkyl halides and alcoholates are also claimed. Pure prods. are obtd. in high yield.
