Fixed scrapers of edge screen drums cannot prevent the screenings from jamming at the drum periphery and not being able to be scraped off. The novel scraper device contains a plurality of star-shaped scraper strips arranged about an axis of rotation, a new scraper strip being swung into the scraper position on each drum rotation and the departing strip discarding the screenings backwards. The strip engaging at an obtuse angle detaches the jammed screenings faultlessly and then peels them off.
