Bus with a frontal entrance door

For improved entry a bus can be equipped with a frontal entrance door (transversely to the direction of travel). With the aid of an air-sprung front axle the vehicle body can be lowered to such an extent that there only remains a small height to overcome, or in conjunction with an appropriately shaped bus stop a step-less entrance is offered. This makes it possible for people in wheelchairs to have access. So that the person in the wheelchair does not block the entrance region he is positioned below the driver. The raised position of the driver gives him a good view. The attachment of information boards in his foot region only slightly obstructs his field of view. The frontal entrance door makes it possible for the front end to be inclined as desired or shaped spherically without restricting the clearance width and height, which restriction often occurs in conventional side entrances. This results in an aerodynamically favourable shape which has an energy-saving effect.
