A device for obtaining a mixture of gases includes a retort mounted coaxially within the body defining an annular space, with a catalyst and a mixer communicating with the inlet pipe thereto. The exit pipe from the retort is in communication with the consumer. The annular space accommodates heating elements communicating with the flow of electric current the potential of which is reduced by the level of the layer of catalyst as the flow of gas moves forward.
