A telecommunications system comprising at least one originating terminal including means for transmitting first data representative of a desired call destination and a second data representative of a predetermined characteristic of the terminal, and routing means associated with the desired call destination and selectable on the basis of the first data, the routing means including means forselecting a destination terminal on the basis of the second data, whereby a call is established between the originating terminal and the destination terminal.
