PURPOSE: To produce molten metal continuously in a molten metal furnace such as a molten steel furnace. CONSTITUTION: Equipment for producing molten metal, molten steel particularly, has a melting vessel 1 and a metallurgical vessel 23 which receives molten metal 24 from the melting vessel 1 to conduct post-treatment of the molten metal 24 and is closed by a cover 31. The melting vessel 1 comprises a tap opening 21 for the molten metal 24 and is provided at a bottom level 14 of the melting vessel 1 and in the peripheral part thereof so that it is positioned above a pouring opening 32 of the metallurgical vessel 23. In order to enable execution of a continuous melting process, the pouring opening 32 of the metallurgical vessel 23 continuing to the melting vessel 1 is provided above a molten metal guide shoot 33 disposed in the metallurgical vessel 23.
