PURPOSE:To improve the coercive force and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of the artificial lattice films of the magneto-optical recording medium consisting of the artificial lattice films. CONSTITUTION:The artificial lattice films constituted by using the laminate successively laminated with a 1st Co layer 2 consisting of Co, a platinum group layer 3 consisting of the metal selected from Pt, Pd and Pt-Pd alloy, a 2nd Co layer 4 consisting of Co, and a rare earth layer 5 as a basic unit 6 and repetitively laminating the basic units 6 are used as the recording layer of the magneto-optical recording medium. The rare earth layer 5 consists of at least >=1 kinds of the elements selected from Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, and Er. |
