PURPOSE:To provide a new method for purifying an enzyme lysostaphin endopeptidase having an activity to lyse bacteria belonging to the genus Staphylococcus. CONSTITUTION:Lysostaphin endopeptidase is adsorbed on the bodies of a microorganism, especially a strain (e.g. FERM P-12876) belonging to the Staphylococcus and resistant to the lysis of the lysostaphin endopeptidase or its treated product, and subsequently eluted with a highly concentrated salt solution, e.g. the 1-3 M aqueous solution of potassium thiocyanate. Since the number of purification processes is largely reduced in comparison with conventional methods, the highly pure product can readily be obtained in a good yield. |
