PURPOSE:To obtain a satisfactory result in processing to make line thin, and to execute the processing at a high speed by preserving an object picture element as it is when a picture element behind by one a picture element corresponding to the object picture element is a peripheral picture element value in the advance direction of a scanning line. CONSTITUTION:By executing a processing of an end point in a parallel type, 'whiskers' is prevented from being left behind in the scanning direction, and also, by taking notice of a processing of a straight line in which the number of picture elements is varied from three-picture element width to two-picture element width along the parallel direction of a scanning line, a picture element value of an object picture element is set as an index picture element value, when possibility for generating the straight line in which the number of picture elements is varied from three-picture element width to two-picture element width is generated. In such a state, when it is confirmed to be the straight line in which the number of picture elements is varied from three-picture element width to two-picture element width, the picture element positioned in the right oblique lower part of the index picture element is allowed to remain, and the picture element of the index picture element value is varied to a peripheral picture element value at the time of next scan. Accordingly, the line-thinning to one-picture element width is enabled without erasing a graphic having the straight line in which the number of picture elements is varied from three-picture element width to two-picture element width along the parallel direction of a scanning line, and the processing is executed at a high speed. |
