PURPOSE: To obtain a polymer material capable of timely releasing a blocked photographically useful group. CONSTITUTION: This polymer material contains an introduced blocked photographically useful group(PUG) and a blocking group capable of releasing PUG at the time of processing a photographic element. The blocking group contains two electrophilic groups separated from each other by a substd. atom, capable of reacting with a dinucleophilic reagent and capable of causing nucleophilic substitution reaction accompanied by the release of PUG at the time of processing a photographic element in the presence of a dinucleophilic reagent.
