PURPOSE:To detect focusing on a main object by deciding the minimum defocusing quantity as a final defocusing quantity out of plural defocusing quantities detected in plural focusing detection areas. CONSTITUTION:The plural focusing detection areas are provided on a photographing image plane set on the scheduled focusing surface of a photographing lens equivalent to a film surface. Then, a focusing detection means 100 for detecting the defocusing quantity showing a distance between the image forming surface and the scheduled focusing surface of the photographing lens in the respective focusing detection areas is provided. Furthermore, a setting means 101 for setting a manual focusing mode, and a lens detection means 102 detecting the mount of an autofocusing lens are provided. In the case the manual focusing mode is set by the means 101 or in the case the mount of the autofocusing lens is not detected by the means 102, the minimum defocusing quantity is decided as the final defocusing quantity out of the plural defocusing quantities detected by the means 100 by a defocusing quantity decision means 103. |
