PURPOSE: To enable to confirm that the terminal opening of a device is correctly positioned within an artery, by observing the pulsation of blood within a pressure transparent part of the access device. CONSTITUTION: A stylet 32 can be slidably attached to holes 16, 18. With the stylet removed, the device 10 is pulled back until the terminal end of a tube 12 enters the lumen of a femoral artery. Thereby, when the blood passes through the hole 16 to enter into the view hole 18, the interiors of the holes 16, 18 and a chamber 20 form a sealed pressure volume body. According to the variation in blood pressure between its contraction period and expansion period, the blood flows into and out of the volume body with the contraction and expansion of air pressure. A doctor, tilting the device 10 by about 45 deg. and seeing from above, can observe the pulsation blood flowing into and out of the chamber 20 so as to confirm that the terminal end of the tube 12 is within the lumen of the femoral artery. As a result, while preventing uncontrolled flowing out of the blood, it is assured that the terminal end of the tube 12 is correctly positioned within the femoral artery.
