PURPOSE:To obtain an efficient wood antiseptic having much higher safety, usable in a low concentration or at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:A wood antiseptic comprises a dimethylfurancarboxyanilide derivative of the formula (R<1> and R<2> are H, methyl, halogen or methoxy with the proviso that R<1> and R<2> are not H at the same time) such as 2,5- dimethylfuran-3-carboxy-(3-methylanilide) as an active ingredient. The blending of the compound with at least one selected from 3-bromo-2,3-iodo-2-propenylethyl carbonate, 3-iodo-2-propenylbutyl carbamate and 4-chlorophenyl-3-iodopropargyl formal which is known to show excellent activity in a lower concentration than the existing wood antiseptic and to have antiseptic effect on wood exhibits more excellent synergistic effect in a low concentration than single use of each component. |
