The switch unit (X2) substd. for the conventional switch of an exterior lamp (La1) incorporates a flasher module protected by a 2A fuse (F1). A slider is movable along guide rails in the cover of the unit to allow or inhibit operation of the module, which is connected to a fluorescent lamp (La2) affording a visual check on its function. The fluorescent lamp is lit continuously in the inactive condition of the switch unit, so that the latter can be found easily even when the interior lighting is off. USE/ADVANTAGE - For drivers of taxis, ambulances or other emergency vehicles, and for strangers, seeking a particular house address after dark; a standard exterior lamp can be used selectively for flashing or continuous lighting.
