PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability by a method wherein in the printer with a plurality of nozzles arranged in a main scanning direction, a sub-head cap successively covering the nozzles individually for removing a bubble from every nozzle is provided. CONSTITUTION:A sub-head cap 20 is disposed at a third position between a main head cap 11 (a first position) and a recording start position (a second position) of recording paper 7. A slit 21 is provided on a surface of the sub-head cap 20. This slit 21 is made of an elastic material 22, such as a rubber, and projected from the surface of the cap 20 more or less. In this constitution, ink is sucked by the head cap 11 at the first position from nozzles 2A-2D, separately or batchwise, and bubbles in the nozzles 2A-2D are discharged. Next, when a head 2 is moved to the second position, nozzle holes are successively opposed to the slit 21 with the lowest one first, and bubbles in the nozzles 2A 2D are removed in order from every nozzle. |
