<p>A fixing bolt (2) which is lockable in place by means of a locking insert (4) which is received within the split end (8) of the bolt, or indeed any threaded member. When the bolt (2) is in place with a nut or other bolt counterpart located at the free end of the bolt and locking is desired, the insert (4) is forcibly moved into the split end to splay it apart. In one preferred embodiment the bolt is lockable/releaseable and has a cap head bolt (22) located in an axial bore of the fixing bolt. The cap head bolt carries the insert and rotation of the cap head bolt causes the insert to move axially of the fixing bolt end, thereby locking or releasing the bolt.</p> |
