PURPOSE: To inhibit foaming in an aqueous surfactant system with free surface turbulence by using a foaming inhibitor based on a hydrocarbon oil and an organopolysiloxane having a certain quantity of higher alkyl groups bonding to silicon atoms. CONSTITUTION: This foaming inhibitor contains 5-90 pts.wt. organopolysiloxane having 0-60% units of formula I (wherein R is 8C hydrocarbon and a=0-3) and 40-100% units of formula II [wherein R" is a group of formula III (R' is 9-35C alky, Z is a linking group and (z) is 0 or 1), (b) is 0, 1 or 2, (c) is 1 or 2 and b+c is 1, 2 or 3], 0.1-30 pts.wt. finely divided hydrophobic particulate material, 5-95 pts.wt. hydrocarbon oil and 0-20 pts.wt. organosilicon MQ resin.
