A multipurpose post with an elongate central channel, valley shaped in cross section, with essentially flat marginal flanges along the edges of the central channel member. At the bottom of the post, the marginal flanges gradually and completely taper off. The tapering continues into a gradual tapering of the central channel member which terminates into a blunt ground penetrating edge, consisting of the remaining extending portion of the central channel member.
