A colour effect lighting unit has a light source (5) mounted adjustably (4) on two vertical bars (3). One of the bars has a ball link (2) at the top that supports an optical element (1). AT the side of the lighting unit is a pivot mounting that can fix onto a wall and allows adjustment to be made. The vertical support bars may also be adjusted by turning through an arc.
