PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce ink discharge amount in cleaning.SOLUTION: A liquid injection head includes: a nozzle plate where a plurality of openings for injecting liquid are provided; an insulating part that is provided on the downstream surface of the nozzle plate in a direction for injecting the liquid out of the nozzle plate, and where the circumference of the nozzle openings are formed to be a first state having repellency to the liquid; a control part which performs discharge operation for discharging the liquid from a predetermined nozzle out of the plurality of nozzle openings, applies voltage to a nozzle circumferential edge arranged around the predetermined nozzle opening out of the insulating part, and makes the nozzle circumferential edge retain the liquid by turning the nozzle circumferential edge into a second state having lyophilic property to the liquid so as to perform humidification-retention operation for humidifying the predetermined nozzle opening. |
