PURPOSE:To shift down immediately when a drive force is not sufficient due to an increase in traveling resistance produced while a vehicle goes up a shape, etc. CONSTITUTION:A speed change position is selected based on a vehicle speed VSP and a throttle opening TVO for speed change control (S1 to S3). When a request for speed change is absent, a traveling resistance RESIALL is calculated (S5 to S9). Also a down shift throttle opening TVODWN-CGP corresponding to the present vehicle speed VSP on a down shift line from the present speed change position to the lower speed side speed change position is calculated (S10) and, based on it, the maximum drive force F2 at the present speed change stage is calculated (S11 and S12). Then, when the maximum drive force S2 lowers below a traveling resistance RESIALL, a gear is shifted down forcibly (S13 to S15). |
