PURPOSE:To inexpensively and efficiently obtain cellulose by culturing a cellulose-producing microorganism while keeping Mg ion concentration, carboxylate ion concentration or carbonate ion concentration in a specific range using Mg salt of carbonic acid or a carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:A cellulose-producing microorganism (e.g. Acetobacter aceti subsp. xylinum IFO 13693) is inoculated into a culture medium having 1.0mm mol/l to 0.1mol/l magnesium ion concentration and 6.0mm mol/l to 0.1mol/l carboxylate ion concentration or carbonate ion concentration using one or more kinds of an alkali metal carbonate, magnesium carbonate, an alkali metal carboxylate and a magnesium carboxylate, etc., and the microorganism is subjected to stationary culture at 27 deg.C for 60 days and the cellulose produced by the microorganism is separated and purified to efficiently and inexpensively provide the objective cellulose in remarkably improved production speed and production amount of cellulose. |
