Converting sequence of frames of pictures with interlaced lines into pictures without interlacing

From the compensated frames pictures are produced without interlacing by an essentially vertical interpolation (20) inside each frame and also pictures without interlacing by an essentially temporary or transient interpolation (24) between adjacent frames. Movement compensation can be achieved among three sequentially following half images by using only a single movement vector for compensating the movement between the first and second half images and in the reverse direction between the second and third images.
