The device has one or more rollers (12) that are pressed against sheets, a printing block, rolling against the rear side. The reciprocating movement of the roller to and from the printing surface is adjustable to suit the length of the block or the printing width (b). The needle head (1) prints variable data on the material (8), and the roller (12) is mounted on a truck (9), which has the support (11) for the head. The truck travels over the printing distance in synchronism with the head. the support can be alongside the roller, and can consist of a block with a smooth surface towards the head, or alternatively a roller coaxial to the first one (12) and pref. mounted on the same spindle (13).
