The locking device has a recess (12) which, in its locked position, lies by its entry section (11) on a first linear contact area (13) of the locking pin which runs parallel to the pin's centre axis. A wider linear second contact area (14) is located parallel to the first and which is on the side of the locking pin opposite the first contact area. In the locked condition, a clearance is maintained between the seat back rigid stop section (1) and the locking pin. The clearance space is approximately 0.2mm.
