Implant for spinal correction

The bone screws (1) have an open slot (3) in the screw heads (2). A threaded rod (4) locates within the slots in the screw heads. The correcting rod has a nut (5) on either side of each screw which locates in a collar (6) as a cut-out in the screw head. Spinal plates (7) which are gently curved lie under the bone screws which pass through holes in the plates. A stabilising rod (10) runs parallel to the correcting rod and is located in abutments (9) in the spinal plates and has further bone screws (8) extending from it for fixing to the spine. Between the correcting rod and the stabilising rod are joining sections (11,11') which allow both rods to be adjusted precisely in relation to each other, both in the longitudinally and the lateral directions.
