PURPOSE: To provide stably developed images free from image deterioration even for a long time of use by preventing a coat of a magnetic toner of one- component developer on the developing sleeve from being excessive or deficient in amount and white stripes, etc., from occurring on the layer of the toner. CONSTITUTION: The 10-point average surface roughness Rz(μm) on the surface of a developing sleeve and the magnetic force fr(T<2> /m) which works in the central direction of the sleeve as caused by the magnetic field of the magnetic roller at the nip section of the regulating blade and the sleeve are specified as follows: 0.5+2<-1>×fr×10<-6> <=Rz to increase the conveying force of the sleeve and thereby prevent clogging of powdery magnetic lumps, etc., to the nip section, and Rz<=6+2<-1>×fr×10<-6> to prevent the increase of the toner layer thickness. And 1<=Rz to secure a minimally required amount of toner on the sleeve, and Rz<=8 to prevent an excessive amount of toner from being secured. |
