Air and fluid tight end fitting for hose

A filling (1) is placed on the end of the hose (3). It has a roughened inside surface that grips the outside surface of the hose. A nipple (4) is placed on a mandrel with an external thread (10), and the mandrel is forced into the hose expanding it into the end fitting. A nut (14) bearing on a distance piece (13) forces the nipple into the bore of the hose. The nipple has a patterned outer surface which plastically deforms and locks into the interior surface of the hose. The enlarged head (8) of the mandrel is then withdrawn through the nipple and is then taken away.
