Ion mobility spectrometer with internal gas chromatography column

The spectrometer uses a gas flow of the analysis gas and a drift gas provided by air, or an inert gas or gas mixture, fed around a pumped gas circulation path containing an ion mobility spectrometer detector (1) and a filter (2) for water vapour and higher molecular components. The circulated gas flow is divided on the output side of the filter into a partial flow fed to the drift gas input of the ion mobility spectrometer detector and a partial flow fed to a gas dosing device (6). This is associated with the analysis gas inlet and coupled to the analysis gas input of the ion mobility spectrometer detector via the gas chromatography separator (5) .
