PURPOSE: To attain radio communication of high quality without executing accurate timing control or preparing large guard time and to attain radio communication with high transmission efficiency by simple control even when a change in propagation delay time is large over ages. CONSTITUTION: This TDD radio communication system is provided with a radio channel selecting means for selecting TDD communication with a mobile station(MS) and a base station(BS) through a ground system radio channel or TDD communication with the MS and BS through a satellite system radio channel. When the ground system radio channel is selected by the radio channel selecting means, an error correction code for preferentially executing error correction capacity is selected and encoding processing and error correcting decoding processing for preferentially executing error correction are applied to a digital information string to execute TDD communication. When the satellite system radio channel is selected, an error correction code for preferentially executing disappearance correction capacity is selected and encoding and decoding processing for disappearance correction is executed to execute TDD communication.
