A method of caption/text broadcasting service by using of an EDS(Extended Data Service) is disclosed. The method comprises a step of inputting a caption/text broadcasting selection key by a user; a step(A) of determining whether a data applied from a decoder is an EDS control code, i.e., O1H or O2H; a step(B) of determining whether a carrier code representing the EDS transmission data is 02H, a step(C) of determining the mode of a present broadcasting caption/text on the base of the inputted data bit(B2,B1,B0); and a step(D) of outputting a determined caption/text broadcasting status on an OSD screen. Thereby, the user is easily determined a caption/text mode information.
