PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe persistent underwater antifouling agent by mixing a graft copolymer composed of a main chain comprising a vinyl copolymer and side chains comprising an organopolysiloxane or an organopolyoxyalkylene with an antifouling agent. SOLUTION: This antifouling agent is prepared by mixing a graft copolymer (A) composed of a vinyl copolymer as the main chain and an organopolysiloxane and an organopolyalkylene as the side chains with an antifouling organic compound (B). The main chain of component A is polymer of, e.g., a vinyl ester, vinyl alcohol or an acrylic ester, and its side chains are represented by formula I (wherein R is a 1-4C hydrocarbon group; and (m) is desirably 30-200) and formula II (wherein R is as defined above; and (q) is desirably 2-20). Especially when the component A is (meth)acrylic ester polymer, a graft polymer prepared by grafting the monomer onto it through its COOH groups is desirable. Component B used is a sulfamide or a phthalimide which is deposited in the form of crystals of a mean particle diameter of 100-2,000 (desirably 100-500)μm when the coating film is dried. This antifouling agent is used as such or in the form of a solution, a coating material or the like.
