Ultrasonic sensor probe for cryogenic liquid level measurement

The ultrasonic probe (10) has a piezoelectric element (12) and a body (14) with a transmission part (16) which has one face (26) in contact with the piezo-electric element. The other face of the body (22) is applied against a wall of a container (24). At least a part of the transmission part of the sensor body is made from a composite material including a fibrous structure and a resin epoxy matrix. The fibrous structure includes glass fibres arranged in a direction perpendicular to the first face of the transmission part. The transmission part, between the first and second faces(22,26) has a minimal thickness of at least 10mm. The piezoelectric element is fixed to the face by an adhesive(36) of the epoxy type.
