PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject resin, excellent in solubility in solvents, weather resistance, cross-linking characteristics and further adhesion to various substrates and usable as a vehicle for a curable type fluororesin coating material by efficiently grafting an acrylic or a methacrylic resin onto a fluororesin. SOLUTION: This fluororesin for a coating material is obtained by carrying the grafting reaction of (A) 100 pts.wt. fluorine-based copolymer prepared by copolymerizing a fluoroolefin with a monomer having a peroxy group with (B) 1-200 pts.wt. hydrocarbon-based monomer using the peroxy group of the component A as a starting point. The resultant resin is soluble in organic solvents having hydroxyl group, carboxyl group or an alkoxysilyl group. Thereby, a coating film formed of a coating material prepared from the resin has a high surface hardness and is hardly damaged due to good adhesion to various coating films and capable of producing remarkable effects such as excellent weather and fouling resistances. |
