Electrostatic coating installation for plastic components of motor-vehicle body

The installation coats object (3) made of a plastic material and makes use of a spray gun (4) carried at the end of a robot arm (5). The trajectory of the gun is divided into several passes. For each pass the flow of the coating material and the level of the high tension applied to the system is varied as a function of the geometry and of the conductivity of the object to be coated. The installation has a computer (15) to control operation of the gun, movement of the robot, the delivery of the coating material from its supply reservoir (7) and the output of the high tension generator (9).
