<p>In a method of machining a crank shaft in which a journal (3a) and a pin (3b) of a work (3) are cut in a plurality of steps by a rotating cutter (5e) while both ends of the work (3) are clamped by chucks (4); the work is phase-positioned by a phase pawl (4c) disposed on one of the chucks; both ends of the works are clamped by both chucks; the journal and pin of the work are machined by the cutter in a plurality of steps; after cutting of all the journals and pins other than the first journal (J1) existing at the place where the phase pawl and the cutter interfere with each other, the chuck having the phase pawl is brought into an unclamped state and is moved back to the position at which the phase pawl does not interfere with the cutter; both ends of the work are again clamped by both chucks at this position; and the first journal is then cut by using the cutter. This machining method can machine all the pins and journals of the work by one crank shaft miller.</p> |
